June Round-Up at The Franklin Theatre

Things at The Franklin Theatre began to heat up in the month of June! We played host to a star-studded CMA Fest Week, icons in the music and entertainment industry, and had an incredible Juneteenth Celebration at our historic venue! Let’s look back at what proved to be another tremendous month on Main Street!

Charles Esten: We kicked off the month of June in style as we celebrated country music’s biggest week of the year! During CMA Fest Week at The Franklin Theatre, Charles Esten captivated audiences with his “loose, rough-cut country” style, showcasing songs from his acclaimed independent debut album, Love Ain’t Pretty. Known for his acting roles in Outer Banks and Nashville, Esten’s concert reflected his multifaceted artistry and dedication, further solidifying his reputation as a beloved entertainer and humanitarian. He was joined by special guests Julie Cole, and former Nashville co-star, Sam Palladio.

Tom Dreesen: Tom Dreesen's recent concert at The Franklin Theatre was a poignant blend of stand-up comedy and heartfelt storytelling. From his humble beginnings shining shoes in Harvey, Illinois, to touring the nation as Frank Sinatra's opening act, Dreesen captivated our patrons with tales of laughter and tears. His deep bond with Sinatra, from jet-setting to heartfelt moments at Sinatra's last performance and funeral, offered a unique glimpse into showbiz history. Dreesen's rich anecdotes and profound insights left a lasting impression, showcasing his enduring legacy in entertainment.

Jeff “Skunk” Baxter: Jeff "Skunk" Baxter's concert at The Franklin Theatre last month was a testament to his storied career in music. From his early days forming a surf band in Mexico City to his pivotal roles in bands like Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers, Baxter showcased his virtuosity on stage. The performance resonated with fans, highlighting Baxter's iconic guitar fills and solos that have shaped rock and jazz fusion over decades. Produced by Anthony Smith and curated by Stephen Miller, the event featured Nashville's rising stars including Sheldon Thomas, Carmen Dianne, Shyanne, and William Davenport. They captivated the audience with timeless hits from Stevie Wonder, Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, and more, blending genres seamlessly from Motown classics to modern pop and soul. The performances resonated with passion and showcased each artist's unique talent, making it a memorable evening of music and celebration.

Crystal Bowersox: Crystal Bowersox's concert at The Franklin Theatre last month showcased her distinctive blend of tender yet tough music, drawing from a variety of genres that reflect her diverse influences. Known for her soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics, Crystal's performance resonated deeply, embodying her mission to spread positivity and healing through music. Country Music’s Biggest Week at The Franklin Theatre

In the country music industry, there’s not a more exciting time of year than CMA Fest Week! This past week, The Franklin Theatre joined in on all the action, bringing exciting new programming and events to Franklin’s historic Main Street. Let’s recap what proved to be an exhilarating couple of days on our legendary stage at “The Jewel of Main Street!”

Sawyer Brown’s “Get Me to the Stage On Time” Documentary: The Sawyer Brown documentary Get Me to the Stage on Time shown at The Franklin Theatre during CMA Fest Week, offers an intimate glimpse into the band’s enduring journey. Highlighting their 40-year career, 24 albums, and 6,000 performances, the film showcased how they overcame industry skepticism with the unwavering support of their fans. This David-and-Goliath tale celebrated the band’s transcendent musical legacy and embodiment of the American Dream. After the screening, the audience was treated to an exclusive live performance by Sawyer Brown.

Wynonna Judd Fan Club Session: The Franklin Theatre was honored to host the legendary country music sensation Wynonna Judd during CMA Fest Week! Hundreds of Wynation fans made their way to our historic venue for a private, intimate session, including an acoustic performance and Q&A with Wynonna!

May Round-Up at The Franklin Theatre

May at The Franklin Theatre was absolutely ELECTRIC! From Grammy-award winning artists to rock & roll legends, relive the magic with us as we celebrate the music and memories that made May truly an unforgettable month at The Franklin Theatre.

T-Bone Burnett: We kicked off the month on a high note with Grammy-award winning artist T-Bone Burnett, reflecting on his latest record, “The Other Side.” His haunting 12-song collection, featuring luminaries like Rosanne Cash and Lucius, weaves a loose love story amidst eerie, spectral melodies and rich vocals. Departing from his previous works, Burnett embraced a more melodic tone, creating a deeply introspective and accessible album enjoyed by all.

Variety on Main: Our monthly Variety on Main showcase has become one of our favorite traditions on Main Street! May’s lineup included the likes of Lynnmarie & E3, Charlie McCoy, The Kody Norris Show, Victoria Shaw, Alicia Witt, and featured Pat Coil and The Mainstays. Orleans: Orleans took The Franklin Theatre stage by storm with a special performance highlighting their legendary songwriting prowess and timeless harmonies. From platinum hits like “Still The One” to the infectious melodies of “Dance With Me,” Orleans captivated audiences of all ages with their iconic radio staples. With over five decades of musical excellence and 17 albums under their belt, Orleans proved once again why they remain at the pinnacle of live entertainment, delivering a dynamic blend of unplugged intimacy and full-throttle electric energy. The evening was made even more special with a surprise guest appearance from none other than the legendary John Hall!

Mitch Rossell: From captivating thousands on Garth Brooks’ 2022 stadium tour to earning his first #1 single with “Ask Me How I Know,” Mitch Rossell’s songwriting prowess and undeniable talent came to life at our historic venue. With landmark moments like his Grand Ole Opry debut, where he received a surprise introduction from Brooks himself, Rossell’s original music continues to resonate deeply with audiences, amassing over 103 million all-time streams and solidifying his status as a rising star in country music.

The Money Guy Show: It was an honor to host the first night of the Millionaire Mission Book Tour, presented by our neighbors, Brian and Bo from The Money Guy Show! This interactive event featured a live Q&A and engaging financial insight, and we were thrilled to help kick off this multi-city tour.

Tommy DeCarlo & Jason Scheff: The Franklin Theatre witnessed a night of classic rock bliss as lead singers of iconic bands, Jason Scheff (Chicago) and Tommy DeCarlo (Boston), joined forces for a memorable tribute. With Scheff’s signature high-tenor vocals and DeCarlo’s powerhouse performances, the audience was treated to unforgettable renditions of hits spanning the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Backed by the powerhouse musicianship of SIXWIRE, the concert delivered a timeless journey through the ballads of Chicago and the guitar-driven rock anthems of Boston, leaving the crowd wanting more.

From Grammy award-winning musical artists to a show-stopping musical debut and everything in between, April did not disappoint. Let's reminisce on the standout moments from this remarkable month:

Joanne Shaw Taylor: Kicking off the month at The Franklin Theatre was Joanne Shaw Taylor, who electrified the stage, unleashing her signature blend of soulful blues-rock. With a repertoire spanning from her acclaimed album "Nobody's Fool" to tantalizing previews of her upcoming release, Taylor's guitar mastery and vocal prowess soared to new heights, captivating the audience with each riff and lyric. Delving into her rich musical archive and delivering timeless blues classics, Taylor solidified her status as one of the foremost live acts in modern blues, leaving the crowd spellbound in a night of unforgettable soul-stirring music.

The Malpass Brothers: In a night steeped in the rich traditions of country music, The Malpass Brothers lit up The Franklin Theatre with their authentic sound and undeniable charm. Only Hope - A Musical Tribute to A Walk to Remember: Only Hope made its debut at the Franklin Theatre to cap off an exciting month on Main Street! Based on the bestselling novel and unforgettable Warner Bros. film that captured the hearts of millions, the unofficial jukebox musical adaptation featured songs from and inspired by the film's iconic soundtrack and stars Brian Logan Dales (pop-rock band The Summer Set) as Landon Carter and Janel Parrish (Freeform's Pretty Little Liars, Netflix's To All The Boys series) as Jamie Sullivan.

  • Taylor Hicks LIVE: The energy reached new heights as former American Idol winner Taylor Hicks graced our historic stage with his soulful voice and captivating presence. It was a night to remember as Hicks delivered a performance that resonated with every member of our audience.
  • Jeffrey Steele & Friends: Jeffrey Steele & Friends treated us to a memorable night of music and camaraderie. Special guest Jelly Roll added an unexpected twist to the evening, making it an unforgettable experience for everyone in attendance.
  • Eirann's Irish Dance Spectacular: St. Patrick's Day weekend was a spectacle of Irish culture as Eirann, a group of immensely talented Irish dancers, took our stage by storm with three mesmerizing performances. The spirit of Ireland filled the theatre, leaving audiences spellbound with their grace and skill.
  • Karen Kingsbury's "Someone Like You" Movie Premiere: We kicked off the month in style with the red carpet rolled out for the premiere of Karen Kingsbury's heartwarming film, "Someone Like You." The atmosphere was electric as actors from the movie graced our theatre, adding glamor and excitement to the evening.
  • Sheryl Crow Album Release Party: Wrapping up the month on a high note, Main Street was buzzing with anticipation as we closed it down for the exclusive Album Release Party of Sheryl Crow's latest masterpiece album, "Evolution."
