The Miracle Worker
February 23 – March 4, 2012
Set in Alabama in the 1880s, The Miracle Worker tells the incredible true story of Helen Keller, a young girl afflicted with both blindness and deafness, and Annie Sullivan, the extraordinary teacher who finds a way for Helen to learn. The play centers on the pivotal portion of Keller’s childhood when Sullivan enters her life. As Sullivan struggles to reach Helen, she must also contend with the obstacles in her student’s family, namely a domineering patriarch resistant to change, a young mother who loves too much, and a son whose resentment of Helen bubbles close to the surface. The Miracle Worker is a riveting, compelling, inspirational story that has moved audiences for years.

About Studio Tenn
Studio Tenn Theatre Company was founded in the Fall of 2009 by Nationally recognized director and artist Matt Logan, Emmy Award winning producer Philip Hall and Broadway and Film actress Marguerite Lowell Hall. The company’s inaugural production of Thorton Wilder’s Our Town was an enormous success and enough to convince Studio Tenn’s founders this was something which should continue! Shortly thereafter Jake Speck left the Broadway production of Jersey Boys where he played the lead role of Bob Gaudio, to join Studio Tenn as its Managing Director.
Together, Speck and Logan produced Studio Tenn’s first full season to much critical acclaim in 2010 and 2011. Studio Tenn’s mission boldly states that they will “use a rich combination of talent from Nashville and Broadway to bring classic works of drama and musical theatre to life in Middle Tennessee; and provide innovative educational programs designed to entertain, educate and inspire the rising artists of our unique community.”
What better place to produce and stage such an ambitious Mission than the Franklin Theatre!
